ওৱাক (ওৱক বা ওৱাকাও) অৰোমো আৰু ছোমালি ভাষাকে ধৰি কেইবাটাও কুছিটিক ভাষাত কোৱা আকাশ ঈশ্বৰৰ নাম।[1][2][3][4]

ওৱাকা (অৰোমো উচ্চাৰণ: [waːkʼa])ৰ অৰ্থ বৰ্তমানৰ অৰোমো ভাষাত এতিয়াও 'ঈশ্বৰ'।[5] আন কুছিটিক ভাষা য’ত এতিয়াও এই শব্দটো পোৱা যায়, সেইবোৰ হ’ল কনছ’ত ওৱাকা; ৰেণ্ডিলত মোম; বায়ছ’ত ওৱাহ বা ওৱা; দাছানাচত ওৱাগ; হাদিয়াত ওৱ আৰু বুৰ্জিত ওৱাচʼই।[6][7]

বৰ্তমানৰ ছোমালি ভাষাত ঈশ্বৰৰ প্ৰধান নাম এতিয়া আৰবী ভাষাৰ পৰা উৎপন্ন আল্লাহ।[8] ওৱাক শব্দটো সঠিক নাম আৰু স্থানৰ নামত এতিয়াও বৰ্তি আছে। ছোমালি বংশ জিদৱাক (অৰ্থাৎ ‘ঈশ্বৰৰ পথ’)ৰ নাম ওৱাকৰ পৰাই লোৱা হৈছে।[9] ছোমালিয়াৰ ওৱাক শব্দটোৰ সৈতে জড়িত চহৰ আৰু গাঁৱৰ নামসমূহৰ ভিতৰত চেলৱাক, কাবুদৱাক আৰু বাৰৱাক' আদি অন্তৰ্ভুক্ত।[10][11]

ওৱাক আৰবী ভাষাত ৰক্ষক ( واق ) ৰ বাবেও এটা শব্দ আৰু ইয়াক কোৰআনত পোৱা যায়।[12][13] কিছুমান পৰম্পৰাত ওৱাকক হাৰৰী অঞ্চলৰ সৈতে জড়িত বুলি উল্লেখ কৰা হৈছে।[14] চুফী ৰহস্যবাদী ইবনে আৰবীয়ে তেওঁৰ আল-ফুতুহাট আল-মাক্কিয়াত উল্লেখ কৰিছে যে, তুৰ্কী জনসাধাৰণৰ টেংগ্ৰীৰ নীতিৰ তুলনাত ওৱাক আগতে ঈশ্বৰৰ এটা সাধাৰণ নাম আছিল।[15]

অৰোমো আৰু ছোমালি সংস্কৃতিত তেওঁলোকৰ প্ৰাক-খ্ৰীষ্টান আৰু প্ৰাক-মুছলমান একেশ্বৰবাদী বিশ্বাসত ওৱাক, ওৱাকা বা ওৱাকো আছিল ঈশ্বৰৰ নাম যিটো কুছিটিক গোটসমূহে মানি চলিছিল বুলি বিশ্বাস কৰা হয়।[16] নৱপ্ৰস্তৰ যুগত উত্তৰ চুডানৰ পৰা অহা আদি-কুছিটিক ভাষাৰ ভাষীসকলে ইয়াক আফ্ৰিকান হৰ্ণলৈ অনাৰ সম্ভাৱনা আছে।[2] শেহতীয়াকৈ আফ্ৰিকাৰ হৰ্ণত ইছলাম আৰু খ্ৰীষ্টান ধৰ্মৰ আগমনৰ পিছত এই শব্দটোৰ ব্যৱহাৰ বেছিভাগেই হ্ৰাস পাইছে।[17]
