পখ্টা দক্ষিণ এছিয়াৰ উত্তৰ সীমান্ত অঞ্চলত বাস কৰা এটা প্ৰাচীন বৈদিক ভাৰত-আৰ্য জনগোষ্ঠী[1] আছিল।[2][3] আধুনিক পাখতুন লোকসকলৰ অন্যতম সম্ভাৱ্য পূৰ্বপুৰুষ বুলি গণ্য কৰা হয়।[2] কেতিয়াবা হেৰোড'টাছৰ "পেক্টিয়ান"ৰ সৈতে তেওঁলোকৰ যোগ-সূত্ৰ চিনাক্ত কৰা হয়।[4][5]
