ৱুল্ফ্‌ চাকঁফ প্ৰভাৱ (Wolff–Chaikoff effect),[1] বুলিলে অধিক পৰিমাণৰ আয়'ডিন সেৱনৰ পাছত থাইৰইড হৰম'নৰ মাত্ৰা কমি যোৱাটো বুজায়। কেলিফ'ৰ্নিয়া বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ৰ ড॰ জাঁ ৱুল্ফ আৰু ইজৰাইল লিয়ন চাকঁফে এই পৰিঘটনা আৱিষ্কাৰ কৰিছিল।[2] ১৯৪৮ চনত তেওঁলোকে লক্ষ্য কৰে যে এন্দুৰৰ গাত আয়'ডিনৰ বেজী দিলে থাইৰইড গ্ৰন্থিত সাধাৰণাতে হোৱা আয়'ডিনৰ অৰ্গেনিফিকেছন (জাৰণ) সম্পূৰ্ণভাৱে ব্যাহত হয়।[3][4] গ্ৰে'ভ্‌ছৰ ৰোগ থকা ব্যক্তিৰ নিৰোগী লোকতকৈ এনে হোৱাৰ সম্ভাৱনা বেছি,[5] আৰু গ্ৰে'ভ্‌ছৰ ৰোগৰ চিকিৎসাত আয়'ডিন ব্যৱহৃত হয়।

উচ্চ পৰিমাণৰ আয়'ডিনেৰে থাইৰইড গ্ৰন্থিক অৱদমন কৰি ৱুল্ফ্‌ চাকঁফ প্ৰভাৱক থাইৰইড আতিশয্যৰ (বিশেষকৈ থাইৰইড ষ্টৰ্ম) চিকিৎসা নীতি ৰূপে ব্যৱহাৰ কৰিব পাৰি। এণ্টিথাইৰইড ঔষধ উদ্ভাৱনৰ আগতে আয়'ডিনক থাইৰইড আতিশয্যৰ নিৰাময়ৰ বাবে ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা হৈছিল। হাইপাৰথাইৰইডিজমত ভোগা লোকক আয়'ডিন দিলে থাইৰইড গ্ৰন্থি আঁতৰাই দিয়া লোকৰ নিচিনাকৈ মৌলিক বিপাকীয় ক্ৰিয়া (basal metabolic rate) কমা দেখা যায়।[6] আয়'ডিন থকা ঔষধ যেনে এমিঅ'ডেৰন খালে থাইৰইড নূন্যতা (hypothyroidism) হোৱাটোকো এই পৰিঘটনাই ব্যাখ্যা কৰিব পাৰে। আণৱিক জৰুৰীকালীন অৱস্থাত পটাছিয়াম আয়'ডাইড ব্যৱহাৰ কৰাতো ৱুল্ফ্‌ চাকঁফ প্ৰভাৱৰ ভূমিকা আছে।[9][10][11]
