কঁঠাল (jackfruit; Artocarpus heterophyllus)[7] ম’ৰেচি (Moraceae) পৰিয়ালৰ এজোপা চিৰসেউজীয়া গছ৷ কঁঠালৰ প্ৰকৃত ভৌগোলিক বিস্তাৰ জনা হোৱা নাই যদিও দক্ষিণ ভাৰত পৰা বৰ্ণিঅ’ দ্বীপৰ মাজৰ অঞ্চলটোৱে কঁঠালৰ মূল বুলি ধাৰণা কৰা হয়৷[8][9][10][11][12] কঁঠাল বাংলাদেশৰ ৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় ফল৷[13]

কঁঠাল ক্ৰান্তীয় অঞ্চলত পোৱা যায়৷ ই পৃথিৱীৰ বৃহত্তম ফল দিয়া গছবোৰৰ ভিতৰত অন্যতম৷ গছজোপা ২০ মিটাৰলৈকে ওখ হ’ব পাৰে৷ ইয়াৰ একোটা ফল দীঘলে ৬০ ছে:মি: আৰু ওজন ৫৫ কেজি পৰ্য্যন্ত হ’ব পাৰে৷[10][14] এজোপা পূৰ্ণবয়স্ক কঁঠাল গছে বছৰে ১০০-২০০ টা ফল দিব পাৰে৷[10][15]

গছজোপাৰ কাণ্ড, শাখা আৰু পাতৰপৰা বগা আঠা ওলায়৷ পুং আৰু স্ত্ৰীপুষ্প পৃথক পুষ্পবিন্যাসত ফুলে৷ স্ত্ৰীপুষ্পবোৰ গছজোপাৰ গা-ছ বা সবল শাখাত ফুলে৷[13]
