ভাৰতৰ প্ৰতিৰক্ষা বাহিনীৰ প্ৰধান (ইংৰাজী: Chief of Defence Staff, চমুকৈ CDS) ভাৰতীয় সশস্ত্ৰ বাহিনীৰ মুৰব্বী তথা প্ৰতিৰক্ষা বিষয়ত ইউনিফৰ্ম পৰিহিত সেনা বিষয়া হিচাপে ভাৰত চৰকাৰৰ শীৰ্ষ উপদেষ্টা।[2] তেওঁ ভাৰতৰ ৰক্ষা মন্ত্ৰালয়ৰ অন্তৰ্গত সামৰিক পৰিক্ৰমা বিভাগৰ মুৰব্বী আৰু ভাৰত চৰকাৰৰ সচিব।[3][4][5] ১৯৯৯ চনত কাৰ্গিলৰ যুদ্ধৰ পিছত গঠিত কাৰ্গিল সমীক্ষা কমিটিয়ে প্ৰথমবাৰৰ এই পদবী সৃষ্টিৰ বাবে ভাৰত চৰকাৰ পৰামৰ্শ আগবঢ়াইছিল।[6][7] বহু বছৰ ধৰি চলা আলোচনাৰ পিছত[8][9] ২০১৯ চনৰ ১৫ আগষ্ট তাৰিখে ভাৰতৰ প্ৰধানমন্ত্ৰী নৰেন্দ্ৰ মোদীয়ে নতুন দিল্লীৰ লালকিল্লাত প্ৰদান কৰা স্বাধীনতা দিৱস ভাষণত এই পদ আনুষ্ঠানিক ভাৱে সৃষ্টি কৰা কথা ৰাজহুৱাভাৱে ঘোষণা কৰিও।[10][11] ২০১৯ চনৰ ২৪ ডিচেম্বৰ তাৰিখে নিৰাপত্তাৰ কেবিনেট কমিটিয়ে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাৱে প্ৰতিৰক্ষা বাহিনীৰ মুৰব্বী হিচাপে এগৰাকী চাৰি তাৰকাযুক্ত, তিনি সামৰিক বাহিনীৰ প্ৰধান ইউনিফৰ্ম পৰিহিত পদবী সৃষ্টি কৰে।[3][4]

বৰ্তমান সময়ৰ সংকৰ যুদ্ধ প্ৰণালীত তিনি সামৰিক বাহিনীৰ মাজত সহযোগিতা বৃদ্ধি কৰাৰ উদ্দেশ্যত প্ৰতিৰক্ষা বাহিনীৰ প্ৰধানে গুৰুত্বপূৰ্ণ ভূমিকা পালন কৰে। ইয়াৰ ফলত তিনি সামৰিক বাহিনীৰ কাৰ্য দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধি হয় আৰু যুদ্ধক্ষেত্ৰত সমৰ্থতা সুসংঘবৰ্ধিত হয়।[12] ভাৰতৰ ৰক্ষা সচিব ভাৰতৰ প্ৰতিৰক্ষা বিষয়ক মুখ্য উপদেষ্টা আৰু ভাৰতৰ প্ৰতিৰক্ষা বাহিনীৰ প্ৰধান গৰাকী সামৰিক বিষয়ৰ মুখ্য উপদেষ্টা। তেওঁ তিনি সামৰিক বাহিনীৰ এক সাধাৰণ কেন্দ্ৰ হিচাপে ভাৰত চৰকাৰ আৰু ভাৰতৰ প্ৰধানমন্ত্ৰীক সামৰিক প্ৰতিৰক্ষা বিষয়ক মুখ্য পৰামৰ্শদাতা।[13][14] আগতে এই পদবী নথকা ভাৰত পি৫ দেশসমূহৰ ভিতৰত একমাত্ৰ বৃহৎ গণতন্ত্ৰ আছিল।[15]
