Both are applicable.

Manipuris who are living in Assam, Tripura & Bangladesh, introduced themselves like these in Assamese/Bengali accent:-

Manipur becomes "Monipur".

Manipuri becomes "Monipuri".

Meitei becomes "Moitoi".

Use of Bengali ৰ
