অসমৰ সংগীত, a state in the northeastern part of ভারত, can be divided into various categories of লোক সংগীত. In recent times a nascent সংগীত industry has emerged that caters to local popular demand too.

A basic characteristic of the ethnic সংগীত of অসম is its descending scale which distinguishes it from the raga-based or folk সংগীত from the rest of ভারত. This style is shared by ethnic সংগীত of the hill people surrounding the state of Assam, and by the সংগীত of Thailand, ম্যানমার and চীন. Furthermore, the tunes are structured in a pyramid, in contrast to the সংগীত of rest of India which is meend based. Assam is a state with valleys and hills, and the home of many ethnic tribes. Just as the geography and varied people co-exist, the pulsating Bihu songs co-exist with languorous সংগীত of other forms.
